Praying for Healing

Healing is anything that occurs within your being
that brings you closer to God.

Perhaps that is too simplistic a definition. Yet it surely covers the outcome of any and all healing experiences. Let me go a bit further.

Healing is experienced internally as a personal response from God. Something happens within the individual wherein he or she knows something has changed. When there is a physical healing, it is quite obvious. Everyone rejoices for the person who is healed physically. The physical healing is obvious. It cannot be denied.

When the healing is spiritual, emotional or mental it is a private experience of a change within the person. There is no visible sign of change physically. This type of healing while not visible to others is quite profound for the person who experiences healing.

Healing occurs in so many ways. Jesus loves us so much that He uses any and all means at His disposal to attract our attention and to draw us into His healing framework.

It is important to realize that healing is what Jesus wants for us. Many times we reject this because we feel unworthy of healing. Jesus healed many times during His public life thousands of years ago. There are those who believe that was when healing stopped. Yet, there are so many instances wherein healing has been documented by the Church as occurring in our times.

Lourdes, for example, has ninety-five documented healings. We know there are many others. However, they are not documented via the stringent rules of the church analyses. Yet, people have experienced such healing.

We will be emphasizing praying for healing after Mass on Sundays in as many parishes as possible. We want those at Mass, who are not accustomed to seeing parishioners praying for parishioners, not only see such prayer, but possibly experience healing in some form as an outcome of such prayer.

A MEDITATION ON HEALING

Be Still Restless One

Be still restless one! Let Me calm that raging storm in your soul. Let Me soothe the feelings that are the result of open wounds in your psyche. These wounds span generations. They belong to you and others who have been hurt by the twists and turns of relationships in life.

Perhaps this will help calm your fury. Think of those whom you have injured in your lifetime. They rage at you and you feel hurt. Their response is parallel to the hurt you inflicted on them. Sooner or later someone must break this cycle of hurt lest it continue on ad infinitum. No one is ever right in any dispute. Underlying dispute is selfishness. Each party seeks to protect itself. How can any good come out of selfishness? How can any good come out of unkind words?

Anger is sinful when it is prolonged for over ten minutes. Let your passion go quickly. Do not let it fester in your mind. That will only generate hateful and bitter thoughts and
feelings. Such thoughts only deepen wounds. Such thoughts prolong memories of injustice and hurt. Best let go of these thoughts lest they become as millstones around your soul dragging it to eternal destruction. Do not speak evil of one who is angry with you. Do not speak evil of one with whom you are angry. Contain your passion. Speak with reason and with My love in your heart.

I have called you to love your enemy. I have called you to practice restraint. I have called you to forgive seventy times seven. Vengeance is Mine not yours. Walk away from anger. Distance yourself from evil negativity. Focusing on past hurts only keeps your heart closed to My love. You wall yourself off in a wall of fire. If that is your choice, be gone from My sight. I have No room for your evilness.

Repent of your evil thoughts of one who has injured you or yours. Such thoughts will not hurt your enemy as much as they hurt you. Your enemy is free to be with Me even though the injury inflicted requires repentance on his/her part. Your enemy does not live with the hot coal of hatred in his/her heart as you do. Your enemy does not stir up unhealthy anger in his/her heart causing lost sleep. Ultimately your enemy will not lose his/her soul because of non-forgiveness.

Your lips say you love Me. Your heart is too filled with hatred. It can never be worthy of My love. Think it over, My little one. Is your soul worth losing because of your enemy's insult? Will your enemy win out By seeing you go to the fiery abyss because of your non-forgiveness? Is this what you truly desire?

Forgive! Forgive! Forgive! It is the only way to be at peace for all eternity in My love.

BE TRANSFORMED JUST FOR TODAY

Let Me speak to your heart in ways that are meaningful to you. Listen to My words in the silence of My world in your heart. The sorrows of your life are transformed to joy in My world. The pain in your heart is transformed by My love.

You do not understand. You just know that you hurt. My pious words of hope do not ease your pain for more than just a few moments. The pain blots out the memory of these words as the day’s events bring more and more pain. My friend I am aware of this. My "pious words" as you call them even if they soothe momentarily, have done their job. The moments of peace have broken the cycle of pain.

Pain returns. Perhaps it is lessened by the memory of the morning's peace. Perhaps these respite moments give hope to your despairing heart. I promise you. Our shared moments of peace sustain you to carry on for just a little longer. They give you courage to push on through the pain in your day.

Where would you be without our stolen moments of peace? Would you have lasted this long without Me touching your heart each morning? My friend, I observe you throughout the day. If the pain gets to be too much, I step into your world bringing relief in the form of My grace to your heart and soul. Sometimes I make you aware I am with you. Other times you are oblivious to My help.

Do not expect a morning visit with Me to eliminate your pain. I help you cope just for today. I help you hold on until we meet tomorrow morning. I am strengthening your spirit. I heal your damaged emotions. I constantly shore up the walls of your psyche as you cope with
life. In time you become stronger and stronger. It is because of My love emanating from our morning encounters.

I push you through one hoop after another. You are saved by My love just for today. Tomorrow we begin again. The circle of My love repeats its journey infinitely. It continues beyond the end of time. You, by your insistent prayer, have become aware of My eternal secret love. Soon you will shout about it from the highest hill. My secret love of you will be no secret anymore.
